UK government’s gagging orders – a coverup for complicity in war crimes

Following the recent letter signed by several hundred staff at the Foreign Office, regarding the complicity of the UK government in the genocidal war that Israel continues to wage in Gaza and Palestinian territories, now there is crackdown on the staff at the Home Office. The staff are being put under pressure to fall into line with the UK government’s official policy of support for Israel.

Over the past 22 months, the whole world has witnessed how the government of Israel is still being protected and supported by the governments in the US, UK, France, Germany , … and even in the UN with total impunity. We have all seen that despite the crocodile tears and expressions of “deep concerns”, the Labour government continues the same policies as that of the Tories. This UK government is just as intent on restricting protests against the genocidal acts of Israel and is just as complicit in Israel government’s crimes against humanity.

As the cries of “not in my name” spreads across all sections of the society in Britain, as time and time again, people have shown their outrage in mass demonstrations in the streets, and protest actions in the workplaces and communities, the UK government continues the crackdowns, gagging orders, and expansion of the “anti-terror” legislations to hinder the broad movement against Israel in Britain.

Keir Starmer and co have publicly expressed their intent and continuous support for Israel and its crimes against humanity. We, on the other hand, alongside millions in the UK and as part of the global movement, condemn the warmongering acts of the Netanyahu and his government.

In Britain, there is a long history of tireless protests and mass struggles in achieving the rights of expression and protest. Today, the UK government is clearly presenting an indication of its agenda of attacking the working class and its achievements in Britain. It is trying to turn the clocks back to the 19th century with normalised double standards and total disregard for any recognised rights and achievements in the society. This is an agenda where humanity and standing against genocide is being termed as “terrorism” while cuts in health, education, welfare … and the rising costs of living are “justified” in pursuit of militarisation and warmongering. We stand with tens of millions in Britain against such an agenda.

We condemn the gagging orders and made-up charges of “terrorism”, as these policies are nothing but another attempt by the Keir Starmer’s government to coverup its complicity and its participation in the Israel’s ongoing genocidal war. We demand an immediate end to restrictions and curbing of the right to protest. We demand an end to the UK government’s support for Israel’s genocidal war and holding to account all those complicit in these ongoing crimes against humanity.
