A mob of fascists chanting support for Reza Pahlavi, waving their monarchist flag of Iran, and shouting homophobic abuse and slander at anyone outside their gangs, gathered outside the meeting of Stop the War Coalition and anti-war movement in Manchester this evening. 

They yelled death and slander to anyone opposing them, branding them as “supporter of the Islamic Republic”. These are the hallmarks of the fascist monarchists, like their violent acts against the many Iranians who do not heed to them in the communities, shops, gatherings and places where Iranians reside. 

These are the same mobs who have been waving their monarchists’ flag alongside that of Israel in opposition to the protest marches that have taken place against the genocide in Gaza. The same mobs that are now trying to intimidate and put pressure on the anti-war movement that is opposing yet another military intervention.

Having witnessed the devastation brought about in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, …  people in Iran as across the world know  that the monarchists’ call for war and military intervention in Iran would only mean destruction of the entire fabric of the society. These fascists wish for such a breakdown of the Iranian society is only intended to drive back the struggle of people in Iran for freedom and equality so that their sect might creep into power. 

Time and again in the past 47 years, the freedom-seeking people in Iran have shown their resolve for overthrowing the oppressive Islamic Republic, and for achieving a society rid of tyranny, exploitation, insecurity and all discriminations. This is a mass movement of tens of millions that would not allow these warmongering fascists to hijack their protests.
