With deep sorrow, we regret to inform all that comrade Azam Kamguian - a prominent figure in the Iran’s communist movement and one of the founders of the Hekmatist Party (Official Line), has passed away in London after a long illness. Her heart full of love for liberty, socialism and a better world ceased beating.
Comrade Azam was a Party cadre, a well-known and well-loved figure, a writer and researcher, an activist and Marxist thinker in the women's liberation movement, and one of the founders of the Organisation for Women’s Liberation. She was also an outspoken critic of religion and the founder of the "Atheists" organisation, as well as a member of board of trustees of “Children first”.
Azam’s communist activities for the freedom of working class, for a free and equal world, led to her imprisonment in the dungeons of both anti-worker regimes of the Pahlavi and the Islamic Republic; she never bowed to their system of torture.
Hekmatist Party (Official Line) extends its heartfelt condolences to Azam’s family of comrade Azam, friends, Party comrades, all communists, defenders of freedom and equality, and women's rights activists!
With comrade Azam’s passing, the Party and communist movement has lost one of their beloved, experienced, tireless, and principled figures, and the women liberation movement, one of the thinkers and inspiring and prominent figures.
Details regarding the memorial ceremony and commemoration of comrade Azam will be announced in due course.
The memory of dear comrade Azam will always be cherished.
