The Islamic Republic confirmed the news of the killing of Ali Khamenei and a number of its military commanders and officials following the US-Israeli military attack on Iran on the morning of Saturday, 28 February. Official news agencies of the Islamic Republic announced that several commanders and government officials were also killed, including Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff; Mohammad Pakpour, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Defence Council; and Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics.

Khamenei and a number of high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic were killed, and more than 90 million people in Iran have now lost the opportunity to put the leader of the Islamic Republic and his associates on trial in a public hearing for crimes against humanity. The people’s joy in Iran over the killing of Khamenei and other regime leaders is the most natural and rightful reaction. However, their killing by a handful of gangsters, murderers, and war criminals is not a victory for the people of Iran over the Islamic Republic. Those who portray the killing of Khamenei and his associates as evidence that the butchers of Gaza are defending the freedom-seeking people of Iran, and who portray continued bombing and war as the path to the liberation of the Iranian people, are accomplices in the crimes of the killers of people in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Palestine and are the counterparts of the criminal rulers in Iran.

From the perspective of freedom-seeking people, those opposition groups that present the military attack and the killing of the Islamic Republic’s leaders by American bombers as a link in the process of the “liberation” of the people in Iran, and deceitfully are capitalizing on the rightful joy of the people by calling Khamenei’s death “the end of the Islamic Republic”, group who urge people to take to the streets under the nonstop bombardment of the US and Israel, are openly showing their alignment with the enemies of the people and of their freedom and liberation from the nightmare of the Islamic Republic.

The dangerous consequences of this criminal war, which as of this moment continues, on all fronts from both sides, will undoubtedly fall upon innocent people in the region, people across the world, and especially the people of Iran. The initiation of this war by the US and Israel, and the shameless chants of Trump, Netanyahu, and co in flaunting their military and destructive power to the people of the Middle East and to the world, are all despised by civilized humanity across the globe. A war that, in addition to its destructive consequences and the heavy human toll it inflicts on the people of Iran and the region, will, if it continues, plunge the entire Middle East into a bloody and terrifying period and place the people of Iran in the worst possible situation in their freedom-seeking struggle against the Islamic Republic.

The Hekmatist Party (Official Line), while condemning the criminal actions of the US and Israel and the imposition of a terrifying war on the people in Iran and the region, call on humanitarian  and peace-loving people across the world, the global working class, and all freedom-seeking people in Western countries to stand up against this war and its perpetrators and to demand its immediate end. Our party, alongside all freedom-seeking people in Iran and around the world, strives against this destructive war and for an end to it.

No to war
Long live freedom, long live equality
