This year, May Day is approaching at the time when there are major changes in the world!
Presently, while global bourgeoise political, economic and military alignments are being formed in the multi-polar world of today, with each bloc pursuing expansion of its spheres of influence, there is also a concentrated global attack of bourgeoisie and its states on the livelihood of the working class everywhere. An attack that is intent on combatting all the hard-fought gains of the working class, all human-values in economic, political, social and cultural aspects of life.
In opposition to such an attack we are also witnessing the escalation of resistance of the working class in all corners of the world, from France to Iran, Britain to German, Spain, USA and India,…
Protests are taking place in all countries against the political and economic corruption, the parasite rule of a tiny minority, and against the imposition of the burden of the crisis of capitalism on the shoulders of the working class. Protests of the huge majority against the discredited system that cannot be improved or reformed but must be ended once and for all.
This year’s May Day bears the marks of both, the rotten rule of the capital and the struggle of the working class to build a world of freedom and equality, and rid of wage labour.
Workers in Iran, same as their fellow workers across the world, have also been locked in struggle against the same system. Moreover, in Iran, we approach this year’s May Day following mass protests that have been taking place against the Islamic Republic rule, together with its legalised social discrimination, and widespread crackdown of protesters. Protests that have consistently taken place demanding freedom, equality and for a society run by direct rule of the people themselves. Currently, there are widespread industrial actions in many sectors calling for an end to the hardship, and for annulment of the officially set wage levels, and against the current terms and conditions of employment across all industries.
On the occasion of this year’s May Day, workers in Iran are standing shoulder to shoulder alongside workers everywhere, declaring that is our day, our day of celebrating our global solidarity against a system of capital that has brought nothing but discrimination, misery, destitution, wars, … and all in pursuit of profits. This is the day that we declare together, as a class, that enough is enough. The day that we stand tall and celebrate the might of our united class, and our solidarity in a worldwide struggle in which we have nothing to lose but our chains.
Workers of the world unite!
Long live international solidarity!
Long live May Day!
