After two decades of military presence of US and NATO, Taliban has once again taken the power in Afghanistan, and the people in this country are faced with terror of one of the most reactionary states in the world.

Despite the declarations of the US administration, the path of the return of the criminal drug gang of Taliban started with the negotiations of 18 months ago when Taliban was not only given recognition but also legitimacy and access to power, in total disregard of the people of Afghanistan.

According the latest figures, in the last twenty years, the US alone has been spending a staggering 300 million Dollars a day in Afghanistan, and there is no accounts of the vast sums that the corrupt puppet government and its authorities that have been taking for themselves. This is while the people of Afghanistan have been without even some of the most basic facilities such as continuous supply of electricity across the country, while an increasing number of refugees have fled Afghanistan, while large number have migrated in search of jobs and some meagre income in neighbouring countries, ....

These are the same people who are now paying the price for US and Western powers withdrawal from Afghanistan, and having to bear the brunt of the revenge killings by the Taliban forces.

It is shameful to hear the claims of Biden and allies that the “people of Afghanistan were not willing to fight Taliban”! or that they had an army of 300,000 strong, with some of the latest military equipment, as if Taliban got to power through its military might! They are even trying to paint an image of “soft” and “moderate” Taliban, that this gang is not the same as it was twenty years ago and “has promised” to respect basic human Rights! Such self-justification has gone so far that the US and its allies are congratulating themselves for securing possible countries that are prepared to temporarily shelter the fleeing people of Afghanistan.

But the humanity across the world is also witnessing the horrific scenes, and knows far too well that Taliban was neither born nor given nurtured by the people of Afghanistan. Taliban was forced upon them when it was raised initially to fight the invading forces of Russia and then given sanctuary by the same and the reactionary powers in the region. This is the same force that has never ceased to supress and kill, totally indiscriminately, to achieve power.

The hypocrisy and double-standards must be stopped. Taliban has never been the choice of the People of Afghanistan. Taliban is not and must not be recognised as the legitimate state of Afghanistan, and any attempt to present it as the representative of the people of Afghanistan must be condemned.
