Organisation Abroad of Hekmatist party (The official line) Support women’s movement in Iran The recent wave of protests against the forcing of women to wear hijab has been growing in Iran. The symbolic actions of women standing on telecom boxes, waving their hijab on a stick, has been spreading, and so far, the officials have said that 29 women have been arrested. The forcing of hijab has been part and parcel of the Islamic Republic’s suppression in Iran; it is a manifestation of the anti-woman policies that have been enforced by the Islamic regime to retain its rule, following the 1979 uprising. Almost four decades of gender apartheid, segregation of women and men, forcing hijab on young girls in schools, … were enforced with extensive suppression, imprisonment, public flogging and torture throughout the country. The protesters’ action of taking their hijab off in public, is yet another aspect of the mass protests that took place last month against the Islamic Republic in Iran. The protests against forceful hijab, once again express the extent of the deep-rooted anger and disgust of the Islamic regime’s rules in Iran. It is a protest against a regime that has denied women even the most basic right to dress as they wish. The symbolic actions of women standing on telecom boxes, waving their hijab on a stick, also shows clearly that the rulers in Iran have not been able to crush the recent mass protests that took place across the country last month. Moreover, once again it manifests that the people in Iran want to rid themselves of the Islamic Republic in its entirety, with all its different factions. We are here today to express the voice of the people in Iran and urge you to support our demands for freedom to dress as the basic right of every human being, and equal rights for women and men in all economic, social and political aspects of life in the Iran. We urge you to express solidarity with the women and more broadly, the people in Iran, demanding abolishment of forceful hijab and gender apartheid. We urge you to support our demand for freedom, secularism, complete separation of state and religion. Condemn forceful hijab in Iran Free all arrested protesters in Iran now Organisation Abroad of Hekmatist party (The official line) 2 February 2018
